The Clever use of Video and Adobe Flash

Pixel8 Studios has undertaken a recent project together with Luisa Mazinter (themarketingsite.com) that pushed the boundaries of design in many ways. This resulted as possible one of the most technically challenging projects that we have undertaken.

The project started with a copywriter scripting 10 stories focusing on Tax management challenges and how Deloitte helped to solve these challenges for individuals and companies. Each of the stories was storyboarded by our team turning them into 10 movies in line with the mini screenplays. Actors were cast and filmed on blue screen making sure that the actors interacted with the proposed animated environment. It was critical to get the actors to seamlessly interface with their imaginary world.

According to Creative Director Bryce Hancock "The biggest challenge of the development came with the creation of the animated scenes and making sure that the actions that the actors performed matched the animations. The animators worked frame by frame matching the actors with the animated elements.

The other challenge was for the Flash developers that needed to ensure that the movies worked well in the online environment with relatively quick download times, while still maintaining good quality sound and visuals."

In addition teasers for each of the 10 animations "buttons" where created on the landing page. On rollout the characters perform simple actions like looking around the screen and interfacing with some of the animated elements from the movies. On Rollover the characters prompt the user to click on them to view their story i.e. "Listen to This" or "Hear me out".
